Power
Player I Draft
Choice has created the power player program to replace our European
Power skating program. This program is designed to bring the player's
personal skills to the next level. The program entails various
skating techniques with and without the puck, agility, balance,
shifting, shooting, transitional strides, acceleration, stopping,
angling, and bumping ("power position"). There are also new elements
such as endurance, speed techniques, and game situation zones for
offensive and defensive concept development.
This 30
hour program allows the instructors to really get to know the
students
and help each student reach a new level of game. Techniques and
Drills are designed for the Student to go beyond their "Comfort
Zones".
Power
Player II has the same program focus, but at a much higher tempo.
This program is for the student that has completed Power Player
I, and has received a high grade point average on their report,
or has been recommended to this program by a Draft Choice Instructor.

Total
Two Way Defense Camp
Ask any coach
what they look for in a hockey player. Most will say a total two-way
player who possesses good offensive and defensive skills. Unfortunately
many players don't have enough opportunity to work on these specialized
skills. Our goal at Draft Choice Hockey is to help the player become
the best Defenceman/ Defensive forward possible. This program works
on Defensive positioning, 1 on 1's, 2 on 1's, back checking, pivoting/checking, agility, balance, pinning and shot blocking. We also emphasize
pinching, jumping up in the rush, escapes, fake shots, and reading
the play with the hope of turning a nothing play into a great scoring
chance. As well as making the first pass....& much more.
This course
makes a player more aware of all areas on the ice. It will make
the player more valuable to their team. A coach is looking for a
low risk player to put on the penalty kill, and/or the last few
minutes of a game, and a good quarterback for the power play. Make
sure you are the player that gets that extra playing time!

The
Scoring Leader
| This program is designed for the
player that has trouble finishing the play. This camp will review
and improve the puck handling skills learned in our creative
puckhandling camp. It is an advanced level camp stressing offensive
play. The skills emphasized are good positioning, stationary
and motion passing, shooting (wrist shots, backhands, slapshots,
one timers, snap shots), fakes shots with lateral movements,
deking, tips-ins, and rebounds. The students will be taught
individually, in small groups, and learn with full ice game
situation drills. As well we will be working on various skating
techniques with the puck. There is always time to help a student
get it right. Our low student/ instructor ratio allows us to
do so. Draft Choice Hockey has developed some unique teaching
methods that will help to make average scorers become great
goal scorers. |

Creative
Puckhandling
| This program is the next step for the student after attending
our Power Player I camp. Here is where the students learn to
use instinctive deking and shifting movements in a lateral motion.
Very few programs and coaches will teach these specific, complex
movements. Draft Choice prides itself in knowing that all these
moves will not only be taught but demonstrated properly as well.
One foot shifting, one to two hands puck protection, one to
three move combinations, one hand and two hand acceleration,
power turns and outside quick feet crossovers are just a few
of the manoeuvres that will be covered. As well as teaching
all the moves the students will also be walked through various
game situations and directed as to how to escape with the puck
using these instinctive deking moves. This is a one of a kind
class! |

in their own end, in the neutral zone,

help the

includes 12
hours of on-ice teaching and practice as well as 2 hours of
off-ice
video assisted chalk talks.

age.
In the Toronto/Brampton area there is a choice of either our
Total Two Way Defence Camp or our Shooting & Scoring

If inspired to really learn and develop attend both programs for
the full day.
Last year was a huge success, again, in both locations.
