The Draft Choice Instructors use equipment as a training tool. Each piece
of equipment has a special function, to correct problems students have
with certain skills.

Spring
Boards
Are used to help players gain better balance, and proper positioning
to recover. Skate stance, knees, back, head, and arms all play
a role in good balance. Spring boards are a teaching tool to gain
better recovery time on ice. Hockey is a contact sport and these skills
are necessary. |
 |
Carousels
Are
used to guide, the student around in a circle. This is so that the
student can be taught crossovers, and how to get the full potential
of the stride. Many hockey players only push ice with one skate. Draft
Choice Hockey teaches students to use both skates creating more speed.
Stick and arm positions are important to maintain a high level of
speed. |
 |
Parallel
Bars
Look similar to the one's used in gymnastic, the purpose
is much different. This is a technique use to teach the student to
bend their knees while turning. The students are taught a low center
of gravity as this will help balance, speed and sharpness of the turn. |
 |
Speed
Timer
A
timer is used to determine how fast the student can complete skill
in comparison to other's, as well as how they have improved from the
start to finish of their camp. The timer has proven in the past to
be a lot of fun, and give's the students the opportunity for healthy
competition. |
